1. Who we are, and who can use this

Comic Dispatch is a trade name of Base Dispatch LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company (“we”, “us”). It helps you identify, grade, value and keep track of your comic books. You need to be at least 13 years old to use it. If you're under 18 (or under the age of adulthood where you live), make sure a parent or guardian is okay with you using it. Turning on 18+ covers is for people 18 or older only.

2. Your account

You're responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your password safe. Give us a real email address so we can reach you. You can delete your account at any time, from inside the app or by emailing owner@comicdispatch.com. If you do, the covers you contributed stay in the Cover Library with the link to you removed (see section 5).

3. Our software and your licence to use it

Comic Dispatch, its software, design, data and branding belong to us or the people who license them to us. While you follow these Terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence that we can withdraw, to use the app and website for your own use, to look after and value your comics. You don't get any ownership of the software or the service.

Please don't copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the software or the service, or use it to build a competing product.

4. Values and grades are estimates

The values, grades, identifications and “comparable listings” you see are automated estimates. Values are based on what sellers are currently asking for comics on eBay, because final sale prices aren't available to us. Grades come from the photos you give us. None of it is an appraisal, an offer, a guarantee, or professional grading, and any of it can be wrong. Don't buy or sell anything relying only on what Comic Dispatch tells you.

5. Your photos and the Cover Library

You keep ownership of every photo you upload. Photos attached to your own cards stay in your library; we use them to give you the identification and grade you asked for, and we don't use them to train AI models.

Covers you contribute. If you upload a photo of a comic's cover while signed in and contributing to the Cover Library, you give Comic Dispatch a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence, which we can transfer and sublicense, to store, adjust, and display it in Comic Dispatch and on comicdispatch.com as a picture of that comic, anonymously unless you choose credit. In practice that means we can keep a copy of the cover, trim and adjust it (for example its cropping, contrast and lighting) so covers look consistent, use it to recognize that comic when people scan it, and show it to other people as the picture of that comic. “Transfer and sublicense” just means our service providers can host and show it for us, and the library goes with Comic Dispatch if the company is ever sold. We will never publish a cover with your name or email address; if you choose credit, we show your username only.

Put simply: once a cover is in the library, it's part of the library. We decide what stays, what is adjusted and what is shown, and we may keep only the best few covers of each comic and delete the rest. The licence continues after you delete your account, with the link to you removed.

Asking us to remove a cover. When you remove a photo from your library, you can tick a box asking us to remove it from the Cover Library too (the box starts unticked). We'll do our best to honor each request promptly, but we decide what stays in the library, and removal can take a little while to show up everywhere. You can also switch contributing or credit off in Account at any time; that applies to scans from then on.

Check your photos. We do our best to crop each photo to the edges of the comic, but we can't promise every crop is perfect, and a photo may show private information, on the comic itself or in the space around it. Please photograph comics against a plain background with nothing private in view. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for private or sensitive information that appears in a photo you choose to contribute. If you ever notice something like that in a cover you contributed, ask us to remove it right away (tick the box when you remove the photo, or email owner@comicdispatch.com) and we'll act on it as quickly as we can.

You promise that what you upload is a photo you took of a comic you own or are entitled to photograph, and that it contains nothing unlawful and nobody else's private information. Our Privacy Policy explains how the library works in more detail.

Recognition. Counts, credits and badges shown for cover contributions are for recognition only. They have no cash value, and we may change them or add rewards later without owing anyone anything for past contributions.

6. Cover artwork and trademarks

The art on a comic's cover, and the characters, titles and logos on it, belong to the publishers, writers and artists who made them. Comic Dispatch shows cover images only to help you identify, grade and value comics. Using Comic Dispatch doesn't give you any rights in that artwork, and it doesn't give us any either, beyond what we need to show the picture as described above.

The licence in section 5 covers only what you own, which is your photograph. You aren't giving us any rights in artwork that belongs to someone else, and we don't claim any. If a publisher or artist objects to a cover in the library, we may remove it.

Comic Dispatch is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by eBay or by any comic publisher. eBay is a trademark of eBay Inc. All other names and marks belong to their owners.

7. eBay, other third parties and sponsored listings

Listings and market data come from eBay. The BUY links are eBay Partner Network affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you buy through one.

Catalog details come in part from the Grand Comics Database and Metron, which share their data under a CC BY-SA licence. We credit them here; we may have cleaned up, corrected or combined their data with other sources, and it stays under that licence.

Your photos are read by Google's Gemini AI service. We don't control eBay, Google or these other services, and we aren't responsible for them, or for what you buy, sell or agree to on eBay or anywhere else.

Ads and sponsored listings. We don't show ads at the moment, but we may in the future. We may also label some listings or sellers as sponsored or preferred. If we do, we'll label them clearly, and a sponsored label isn't a recommendation or a promise about the seller or the item.

8. Acceptable use

Please don't:

9. Reporting, removal and bans

We check contributed covers with automated tools, and we may remove any photo or stop an account from contributing, at any time. If you spot a cover that doesn't belong, use the Report button on it in the app, or email owner@comicdispatch.com and tell us which comic it is.

Child safety. We have zero tolerance for sexual content involving minors. If you see anything like that, report it right away in the app or at owner@comicdispatch.com. Please don't forward the image itself; just tell us where you saw it. We'll remove it, ban the account, and report it to the authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, and we'll tell you why where we can.

11. Plans and subscriptions

Comic Dispatch has free and paid plans, each with monthly limits on scans and other features, shown in the app. Paid plans are sold through the app store you use (Apple's App Store or Google Play), and that store's rules decide how billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds work. You manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple or Google account settings, and refund requests go to the store. If a subscription ends, your account stays, but your plan's limits go back to the free plan's.

12. If you get the app from an app store

These Terms are between you and Comic Dispatch, not Apple or Google. You must also follow the terms of the app store you use and of any other service involved (such as your phone carrier).

On iPhone: Apple isn't responsible for the app, for support or maintenance, or for claims about it, and it has no warranty duties to you for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms for the app, and can enforce them against you.

On Android: Google isn't responsible for the app, for support or maintenance, or for claims about it, and Google Play's terms govern your purchases there.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using Comic Dispatch at any time and ask us to delete your account. We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we have to for legal reasons, or if we shut the service down. When your access ends, your licence to use the app ends. The parts of these Terms that are meant to continue still do: for example, the Cover Library licence for covers already contributed (with the link to you removed), ownership, the estimates notice, the limits on liability, and the governing law.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may change the service and these Terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email, and the new Terms apply from the date shown at the top. If you keep using Comic Dispatch afterwards, you accept them; if you don't, you can stop and delete your account.

15. Warranty and liability

Comic Dispatch is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will be accurate, always available, or free of errors. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, or for any decision to buy or sell a comic. Our total liability to you for anything connected with Comic Dispatch is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit. Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be settled by talking it through will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and you and we both agree to those courts. Either of us may instead use a small-claims court where it applies.
